Ned Albert Seibert
1984 Kent State U Graduate
I started painting at an early age while hanging out with my mom at her art classes she taught in our house in Silver Lake. I have always been fond of the arts, painting, ceramic sculpture, metal welding and photography. I studied at Cuyahoga Falls High in a program designed for my special studies in sculpture with Ron Simon and I also worked with John Communale; both very popular sculptors in the Akron area. I also studied with my mother Nancy and took several art classes when I attended Colorado State. I have been developing a “Gravity Drip” technique as well as other experimental methods of pouring and throwing paint which I have been dialing in. My use of complementary colors and texture has been a mainstay in my work. I use of a lot of paint, with sand, shells, rocks, and multimedia to generate levels of interesting features. The fun part of all this creativity is working with my mother hand in hand on our collaborative’s, creating unique pieces which have her attention to detail and our sense of color and design balance. I like working on a large scale outdoors on the ground and use the sun in drying my paint quickly to create cracks and features which help make the work more interesting. Art is a way of life; taking in and absorbing our natural surroundings and then transferring that interpretation to canvas, stone, wood and metal.
